One of my female students asked me the other week,
“Is it true that American women expect a big diamond when a man asks to marry her?”

This is how I answered,
“No, no, no, well, some do, umm, yes, well, yes. Yes, yes, I guess they (errrr, ummm, errr) we do.”
(Big smiles. Giggles) and then eager looks for me to elaborate.
“You know I was married before, right.”
“Yes, and he was American, too. So?”, the other woman in class asked.
“So, yes, he gave me a diamond.”
“Was it big?”, asked one of the guys in class.
*cough, cough* I weakly and somewhat ashamed of my American love of BLING, said, “yeah.”

The first woman, “You used to work in jewelry, too, why don’t you wear any?”
“Well, earrings make my ears red, so I can’t wear earrings, and necklaces always catch on my hair, bracelets bother me, my watch is broken, but I do wear my wedding band.”
The other woman in class, “How big was your diamond?”
Anyway, maybe this is more suitable BLING:

Or how about this as a GOLD RING?

Ohhh Ohhh, I like this one!
(you have to view it larger to see the gold trim and the diamonds in the apple!)
Oh, and how about this GEEK BLING?
