Happy First of Advent (the beginning of the Christmas Season)

advent So today is the first Sunday of Advent.  Hard to believe that tomorrow is already the first day of December.  This makes me wonder where this year went.  Incredible how fast time seems to fly lately.

So for those of you who get their Christmas trees up early, my American friends who put theirs up right after Thanksgiving, how is that going?

Christmas Trees and cats do not mix well.  When Kramer, my 25 pound Maine Coon was alive, I attempted a Christmas Tree on a few occassions.  With the real tree, he would take a running jump and and attack the tree at about five feet above the ground.  And down the tree would come.  This was a daily sport for him.  Many times a day.

Then I decided that maybe a fake tree would be less interesting to him.  This was the kind where you put each branch in the tree, for several layers.  He would UNassemble the tree.  He would stand on his hind legs and take the bottom branches out, and make a tree nest out of them.  On a daily basis.  It got to the point where I just let him have his tree nest, and left the bottom branches off.

Pumpkin does not tend to bother Christmas Trees, unless there is ribbon on them.  Vince, like Kramer, learned that a Tree is a form of Sport.

I would like a tree this year.  We are getting a new kitten this week, and I wonder if Vince will teach him that a Tree is to be taken down.  For now, I have to just imagine what this would be like.
