Women and their Colors! (for Lyrical as she was so nice on Smut Friday! Help with the eyeshadow question)

I got an email about color this morning!

(The above imagine is of Urban Decay Eyeshadow from the Sephora website, the link is below.)

And I will refer you all to a favorite place of mine on the internet:

http://www.chanel.com/

I am rather a fanatic for Chanel when it comes to color for many reasons. I have never purchased any Chanel color that I have not used entirely (unless I left it behind and forgot about it, and this was ONLY once!)

The colors are not only classic but they do go with trends, but always in the most elegant way and with colors you can use after the season is over, never to be put in the cosmetic graveyard.

Oh there are other wonderful companies, I love Yves Saint Lauren, Dior, Nars, and the list goes on.

But Chanel always will hold a place in my heart.

Now, on to Lyrical`s wonderful dilemma, of choosing a new single eyeshadow color for daytime use.

I know the one I would choose if I had this problem (of an e-card to Sephora), but alas, I do believe Sephora does not have Chanel makeup, only Chanel fragrance.

But I am sticking partially with this Chanel theme for a moment!

I love this:

this is called Safari and comes as a single color. It looks very grey on my screen with the sunlight, but it is actually earthier in real life.

This is the one single Chanel I own, and use it every single time I wear makeup: This is called silvery. And I use it over this:

and this is a YSL duo from last Autumn that I think can be found on rare occasions, but it is wonderful.

Now Lyrical, I know you said no blending, and I can assure you that I can put makeup on in 2 minutes, 5 minutes when I really take my time.

I put a thin line of the green on my lid just over my eyelashes, and then if I want to change from green to navy silvery, I add a bit of the Chanel silvery over it. Magic! I was shown this trick from a makeup artist last month. A cool American guy that now lives in Hamburg. (and he worked with Chanel for years and now works for a wonderful Boutique in North Germany and travels around Germany doing makeup, and he rocks!)

So, now we still have a dilemma, as you want a SINGLE, and not a duo, and Sephora does not have Chanel. So I will edit this as the day goes on!

Oh, guys (and I mean the MEN that come here) , I know you are bored out of your gourds here, but hey, women have to have their fun, too!

Urban Decay:

This one looks good. This is what it is called:

Maui Wowie
(sandy colored sheen)
Item # 856880

also this: Midnight Cowboy
(beige with silver glitter)
Item # 238881 and the color is this:

Sephora online:

and wow, these are 16 USDs?

That is only 10,25 Euro! That is how much our drugstore eyeshadows are! Not kidding, that is about what a Max Factor costs here. But to be fair, our Chanel is most likely cheaper. I have to look into this. I am curious now. Must be import taxes, transport, and the state of the dollar and euro.

I love the Maui Wowie… that is exactly the kind of color I was picturing. Any other recs from that color family would rock.

Hmmm, let me see what else I can come up with after lunch. I narrowed the search to that and Midnight Cowboy, as this is for Sephora, but I will look into Nars singles, and a couple of others ;)

Color makes me day. I love it…it is almost as good as music and fragrance for me. Well, about the same.

Honestly, I have a few MaryKay colors (I hate Mary Kay), and their method is the 3-color blendy thing. It’s just too much damn work. They have a highlighter, and the sort of base, and then an accent, and it’s FINE if you are going out and want to deal with blending and swirling and swoopty-do for 3 colors. Otherwise, for day to day, i want a nice earthy color that goes with most of what I own and that’s easy and let’s me look put together without too much fuss (I’m picky, yes?).

I am having issues with firefox tonight, and I have to switch back to Safari, anyway…

I think you are reasonable (nothing picky about wanting simple and easy and nice!)

I am your woman, mylife :) not only will I help you, but I will get help you get an appointment with one of the best persons in Chicago, too.

I really keep up wiht what is out there, skin care and also color.

The looks I can help with is a very natural look that goes from day into night with just a quick adjustment. And I honestly can do my makeup in 2-5 minutes flat. I can do my skin care routine in less time.

The key is having the right tools and having everything very handy. AND having someone who trains in this SHOW you what to do, and have you do in for them, too.

I can hook you up in Chicago (with a professional, and it will be free, but if you like something they show you, get it :)

And in the meantime, do you need something now?
I can give you my best picks on items.

I need a new daytime look. I’m in a rut. I have lots of Bare Minerals and some MAC products. I really like the MAC foundation I have. But my eyeshadow techniques need some updating. I use a color called “well rested” on the base of my eyelids, and then a color in the outer corner and crease and along the lash line. I’m not getting the nice blended look I would like. Maybe I need more neutral colors. I have alot in the bare minerals, but I haven’t figured out how to use them properly. Maybe I should bring them to Chicago. I’d love to have a “makeover” by a professional.

Only bring the color you tend to wear with you, and yes, I think we should all sit with a professional while there (who ever is up to it), updating is always a good thing!

I am going to my second Spring Update next Friday. (Shiseido is doing this one) and I will share anything new that I learn next week on here.)

Whenever you see in your main department store that a National MakeUp Artist is coming, ALWAYS sign up for an hour with them. Usually it is free and they are happy if you make a single purchase, and usually when you are finished working with them, you want to buy a new product or two, because the results more often than not are fantastic.

Once again, I have to say, that Chanel as incredible National Artist and I used to know some of them. I am sure many of them are still with Chanel, and if you get a chance to work or sit down with them, it is really worth the time.

Well my makeover is in your hands. Wherever you decide to take me will be much appreciated! Oh, hubby says can I do it on the last day so he can see some of it? LOL! I don’t care when we do it.

Early on to enjoy it, too, and I can help you duplicate it for your DH!
